Position Overview

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing daily on-site construction activities across ADU projects. This role ensures projects are built according to plans, schedules, and quality standards while maintaining safety and coordination among subcontractors. The Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager and Director of Construction to maintain production speed and ensure consistent progress across multiple job sites.

Key Responsibilities

Field Construction Management

• Oversee day-to-day construction activities on project sites
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, foremen, and field crews
• Ensure work is performed according to approved plans, specifications, and building codes
• Monitor daily construction progress and ensure work stays on schedule

Scheduling & Production

• Implement and maintain the construction schedule on-site
• Coordinate subcontractor sequencing and daily work plans
• Identify potential delays early and communicate solutions to the Project Manager
• Maintain a fast-paced, production-oriented workflow across projects

Quality Control

• Inspect work performed by subcontractors to ensure quality standards are met
• Identify and correct construction issues before inspections
• Work closely with the QC/Punch List team to maintain high-quality project delivery

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure job sites maintain proper safety standards and OSHA compliance
• Enforce safety procedures among subcontractors and crews
• Ensure projects comply with local building codes and regulations

Inspections & Approvals

• Coordinate and prepare projects for city inspections
• Meet inspectors on-site and ensure all requirements are met
• Track inspection results and ensure corrective actions are completed quickly

Site Logistics

• Coordinate material deliveries and on-site storage
• Ensure job sites remain organized, clean, and productive
• Resolve field issues related to access, logistics, or coordination

Reporting

• Provide daily or weekly field reports to the Project Manager
• Document job site progress with photos and status updates
• Report risks, delays, or field issues affecting project schedules

Requirements

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a construction superintendent or field supervisor
• Strong experience in residential or multifamily construction
• Knowledge of California building codes and inspection processes
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate field operations
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to maintain organized and productive job sites

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ADU construction or multifamily developments
• Experience working in a design-build construction environment
• Familiarity with construction scheduling tools and project management software
