Job Description

Every day, we work together for what matters – bold, swift, and equitable climate action.

ABOUT THE ROLE

3Degrees is a leading B Corp in the sustainability sector, on a mission to empower organizations to transition towards a net-zero future. We achieve this by offering a comprehensive suite of sustainability solutions, including helping clients source renewable energy, investing in carbon avoidance projects, and implementing decarbonization strategies.

Consultants are vital contributors on the Power Markets team, the renewable energy consulting group within 3Degrees. The Consultant position conducts research and analysis to support the delivery of client work under the direction of senior-level team members. 3Degrees’ consulting engagements focus on developing and implementing renewable energy and carbon reduction solutions for large organizations. Our work aims to reduce emissions of energy supplies - both electricity and thermal - and enable growing organizations to adopt these solutions within robust sustainability programs.

This is a full-time position reporting to our Manager, Power Markets. We value camaraderie, team collaboration, and the benefits of in-person connection, while offering flexibility. For this role we prefer candidates who are excited to join us in a voluntary, flexible hybrid work style in our  New York, NY or Portland, ME office.

We may also consider exceptional remote candidates, however we strongly prefer those located in states where we are currently eligible to hire: CA, OR, NY, WA, ME, TX, CO, MI, FL, MA, MN, VA, DC, GA, UT, and IL.  For this role, we will prioritize candidates operating on an Eastern or Central Time zone.

Please Note: 3Degrees does not provide sponsorship or work authorization assistance; therefore, pre-existing right-to-work status is a prerequisite to be considered for this position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Our Consultants help deliver high-impact client projects by performing the following work:

  • Support the delivery of client work through financial modeling, developing presentations, writing and preparing memos, and helping with additional client requests
  • Conduct complex analyses by working with existing models or creating new models to meet client needs. Examples include financial and risk analyses for power purchase agreements, project-specific forecast scenarios and sensitivity analyses, energy market back casts and projections, green tariff assessments, and onsite solar feasibility studies. Use statistical know-how to interpret results as appropriate.
  • Conduct independent research using your ingenuity and curiosity to make reasonable assumptions and come up with appropriate solutions, at times with incomplete information. This may include country-level energy market research, delving into standards documents to find specific references or proof points, as well as research on complex topics such as regulatory proceedings.
  • Translate results of research and analysis into clear visual representations
  • Implement standard error-checking processes and serve as QA on others' work
  • Proactively develop and expand subject matter expertise through regular project work and share learnings with the team
