Today, DLC continues to grow as a modern, inclusive firm where diverse perspectives are valued and attorneys are empowered to thrive.We are currently seeking a Contract Family Law Attorney to join our expanding team.Position OverviewThis is a contract-based role ideal for an experienced attorney who is confident managing family law matters, appearing in court, and maintaining a consistent caseload in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage a caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution
- Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and legal documents related to divorce, custody, support, and related matters
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategies tailored to client needs
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and trials
- Handle discovery processes, including document requests, interrogatories, and depositions
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Provide legal guidance and case assessments to clients during emotionally sensitive matters
- Collaborate with internal team members, including case managers and support staff
- Maintain accurate and timely billing records to meet required billable hours
- Ensure compliance with all court deadlines, procedural rules, and firm standards
- Minimum 5+ years of legal practice
- Strong experience in family law (divorce, custody, child support, etc.)
- Trial experience (required)
- Ability to meet a minimum of 120+ hours per month
- Strong ability to manage cases independently and meet deadlines
- Experience handling complex or high-conflict family law cases
- Strong negotiation and mediation skills
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
