Job Description

Council Capital is a healthcare-focused private equity firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, managing over $350 million in committed capital.

We invest in lower middle market healthcare companies where we see the potential to scale purpose and performance. Our investments span control and minority positions in businesses with enterprise values between $10 million and $100 million.

What sets us apart is the Council Model—a proven framework that surrounds founders and leadership teams with a powerful combination of support: our CEO Council of seasoned operators, our Strategic Healthcare Investors who bring real-world insight and access, and our internal Value Creation Team, focused on enabling growth through talent, systems, and strategy.

At Council Capital, we’re not just backing companies—we’re helping build enduring businesses that improve lives and shape the future of healthcare.

About Alivia Analytics

Alivia Analytics is a rapidly growing healthcare technology company supporting commercial and government payers in the fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) space. Our AI-driven platform, Alivia 360, delivers payment integrity and financial outcomes across the healthcare ecosystem. As a standalone SaaS company backed by private equity, we operate in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment that requires strong financial discipline, scalable processes, and exceptional execution.

The Controller will play a central role in ensuring the company is audit-ready, cash-flow positive, and operationally excellent through this transition and beyond.

Position Overview

The Controller is a key financial leader responsible for owning all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across multiple revenue models (SaaS, professional services, contingency-based recovery). This individual will manage the month-end close, lead the external audit, and deliver timely, actionable financial reporting to support strategic decision-making by PE sponsors and the executive team.

This is a hands-on role. The ideal candidate thrives in a lean environment, builds before they hire, automates before they add headcount, and treats every close cycle and reporting package as a reflection of the function they are building. We recently implemented NetSuite (November 2025) and are actively adding advanced features, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to shape a modern accounting infrastructure from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations and Close Management

  • Own the month-end close process with a target of WD5 completion (current state: 10-12 days), with a long-term vision of a 2-day close

  • Oversee general ledger management, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial controls

  • Manage payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities

  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing across SaaS, professional services/consulting, and contingency-based recovery services

  • Leverage NetSuite to streamline reconciliations, journal entries, approvals, and reporting

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Deliver monthly financial reporting packages and loan reporting packets by WD10 (current state: ~WD20)

  • Build and maintain NetSuite dashboards, saved searches, and reporting tools to enhance visibility

  • Shift reporting focus from data delivery to analysis and actionable insight

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling activities in partnership with the Sr. Financial Analyst

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive cash flow tracking and forecasting model across all contracts and customers

Revenue Recognition and Technical Accounting

  • Lead revenue recognition across all revenue streams:

    • SaaS subscription revenue (ASC 606)

    • Professional services / consulting

    • Contingency-based recovery services

  • Document and maintain accounting policies, controls, and procedures for each revenue stream, including lease accounting for new locations and unique deal structures

  • Become primary point of contact for technical accounting & 3rd party management

  • Ensure proper NetSuite configuration and documentation to support ASC 606 compliance

Audit and Compliance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors

  • Deliver a clean annual audit by May 1 with zero material weaknesses

  • Maintain strong internal controls, documentation, and system permissions

  • Ensure compliance with all financial, regulatory, and contractual requirements

Leadership and Team Development

  • Manage and mentor the Senior Accountant and two part-time contractors

  • Elevate the Senior Accountant to work at the top of their license by shifting administrative tasks to contractors

  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations within first 90 days

  • Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement

Process Improvement and Scalability

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities within NetSuite (workflows, approvals, reconciliations, reporting, statistical accounts for bookings/ARR)

  • Lead implementation of NetSuite forecasting and budgeting modules

  • Leverage AI and automation tools to modernize the accounting function

  • Support system improvements and integrations as the business grows

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with the Sr. Financial Analyst on revenue data for forecasting and budgeting alignment

  • Maintain active, collaborative relationships with external tax advisors and auditors

  • Engage regularly with internal department leaders to provide financial guidance and strengthen operational decision-making

  • Support PE sponsor reporting requirements, covenant compliance, and board-level financial communication

Qualifications

Required

  • CPA required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in senior accounting roles (controller, director of accounting, or equivalent scope)

  • Strong, hands-on NetSuite experience (GL, revenue, reporting, workflow optimization). Other large ERPs acceptable with strong justification.

  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, and multi-stream revenue environments (SaaS, services, contingency)

  • Demonstrated success managing audits and building internal controls

  • Ability to commute to Newtown Square, PA for hybrid schedule (2-3 days/week in office)

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience in a standalone company backed by Private Equity (board reporting, covenant compliance, investor cadence)

  • Experience in healthcare, payment integrity, or technology-enabled services

  • Track record of automating manual accounting processes in a scaling environment

  • FP&A fluency and ability to build cash flow forecasting and operational models

  • Experience supporting M&A diligence or continuation vehicle processes
