Seasons Supermarkets is one of the largest Kosher supermarket chains in the nation. With eight locations across the Tri-State area and continued expansion plans, Seasons provides customers with a full-service kosher shopping experience where both customers and associates are treated like family.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to join our team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, controls, reporting, and financial processes. Key responsibilities include oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash and Sales Reporting, the General Ledger, and Balance Sheet reconciliations. In addition, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management will be significant components of this role.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, a solid work ethic, and advanced Excel and database management capabilities. As the company is currently implementing a new ERP system (NetSuite), this individual will play a key role in ensuring a successful rollout and adoption across the organization.
This is an on-site position. Our HQ office is located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, NY.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage and mentor accounting staff while ensuring accounting processes and financial reporting are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Sales Reporting, Banking functions, and overall, Balance Sheet integrity.
- Assist with the implementation, optimization, and ongoing management of the NetSuite ERP system.
- Partner with the VP of Finance on special projects, financial analyses, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with store operations leadership to interpret financial results and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial reporting activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar accounting leadership role, including prior supervisory experience.
- Retail experience preferred; supermarket or grocery store experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with large data sets and financial analysis.
- Prior experience implementing, managing, or optimizing ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
- Familiarity with AI-powered business tools, including Claude AI and similar platforms, to improve efficiency, reporting, and workflow management.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
