Controller - Family Office
Washington, DC-based Single Family Office seeks an experienced Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and financial operations across multiple entities, trusts, investments, and personal assets. This is a unique opportunity to join a stable, multi-generational family office offering strong work/life balance, long-term stability, and a hybrid work schedule. The role is open due to a planned retirement, allowing for a smooth transition with existing personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial management for multiple LLCs, trusts, and investment entities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and support tax preparation processes
- Monitor passive investments, review manager reports, and prepare analyses
- Oversee financial matters related to personal residences, including mortgages, taxes, insurance, and expenses
- Assist Principals with financial, investment, and charitable matters
Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- CPA required
- Prior family office experience required
- Strong financial reporting and analytical skills
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Advanced Excel and QuickBooks proficiency; Bill.com experience preferred
