Position Summary

As a Cook, you will prepare and serve meals while ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. You will also step into a leadership role in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menus and dietary guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with dietary restrictions and special diets, including modified textures
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and portion control standards
  • Monitor and record food temperatures
  • Assist with meal service and ensure appealing presentation
  • Maintain sanitizer solutions and follow cleaning schedules
  • Clean kitchen equipment, workspaces, and serving carts
  • Collaborate with dietary staff and other departments
  • Report resident concerns to leadership as needed
  • Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 1 year of cooking experience, preferably in healthcare or long-term care
  • Understanding of dietary restrictions and therapeutic diets
  • Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification
  • Knowledge of PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
  • Friendly, professional demeanor
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Compassion for an underserved population
