Schedule: Flexible time (which means work also when classes of faith formation, meetings
with parents, catechists, etc. sometimes after 5 PM but not beyond 9 PM; Saturday and Sunday
that most of the parents and students will have activities)
Usual regular schedule: Monday - Friday (Some Weekends)/ 40 hours per week

Summary
Coordinator of Religious Education will lead religious education program in fulfillment of the catechetical mission of the parish. This position will supervise and work with volunteers to coordinate healthy religious programs for children and youth. The CRE designs, develops, directs, and evaluates a total parish catechetical program and provides leadership to assist the parish community in building a solid foundation for spirituality, Christian living, ministry, and outreach
Responsibilities
- Oversee parish religious education programs and organize resources in religious education for the pastor.
- Oversee the registration process and collects all appropriate documents for Faith Formation students, OCIA and infant Baptism.
- Oversees curriculum planning (also coordinates with the Archdiocese for Training in the Faith Formation and Curriculum Planning) and the selection of texts from kindergarten through high school.
- Schedules Interviews with parents/family before start of Faith Formation program for children receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.
- Monitors Faith Formation annual budget, in consultation with the Director of Pastoral Ministries
- Schedules and coordinates with Director of Pastoral Ministries and Parish school the pastor's directive dates for First Recollection, First Holy Communion, Confirmation and OCIA
- Coordinates retreats: First communion, Confirmation, OCIA and other retreats as needed.
- Work alongside the Director of Pastoral Ministries Admin to ensure that the Safe Environment requirements, policies, and mandates for the Parish Faith Program are in compliance with the Office for Child and Youth Protection.
- Creates and maintains religious education programs' calendar and coordinates closely with the Office Staff.
- Assists each catechist in establishing and implementing their plan for diocesan catechist formation and maintains catechist records
- Ensures proper supervision of indoor and outdoor facilities during program times
- Oversees Faith Formation activities ensuring they correspond with the activities of the parish.
- Recruits and supervises catechists and volunteers ensuring on-going development opportunities for catechetical and spiritual growth
- Works with the Diocesan Department of Catholic Formation and represents the parish at various meetings and conferences pertaining to religious education and/or administrative development
- Meets with the Director of Pastoral Ministries regularly to discuss matters relating to the Parish Faith Formation and sacramental preparation.
- Schedules and coordinates the sacramental meetings for parents for the Sacraments.
- Cooperates with parish staff members in developing and implementing parish programs and use of the facilities
- Evaluates the programs to determine strengths, areas of improvement and future needs
- All initiatives and creativity should be communicated to the Director of Pastoral Ministries and Pastors.
- All other duties as assigned by the Pastor/Director of Pastoral Ministries
Additional Responsibilities
- Responsible for Religious Ed. Data Base
- Coordinates OCIA program with Adults and Children
- Inventory of the Faith Formation Office (books, items, etc....) at the end of the year
- Oversee Baptisms (Speak with parents, gather documents, help parents/godparents register for class and collect payment for class, and schedule baptism class W/ Deacon
- Oversee Quinceaneras
- Oversee Vacation Bible School and coordinating with volunteers
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community. (Sometimes this requirement may be satisfied by a person who has knowledge of and is willing to function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church)
- Preferred Undergraduate work in Theology, Catechesis or extensive parish experience as a CRE.
- Bilingual - (English and Spanish)
- Three years of parish and/or administrative office experience
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to communicate with various levels of staff and management
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays due to work an unpredictable schedule when necessary

- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to compose correspondence, minutes and/or reports.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
