Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports) is a leading professional sports company, with a collection of assets that includes the New York Knicks (NBA) and the New York Rangers (NHL), as well as two development league teams – the Westchester Knicks (NBAGL) and the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL). The New York Rangers aim to engage diverse communities and reach the next generation of Rangers fans through meaningful social impact initiatives.
This role will provide critical operational and member support on a day-to-day basis for a wide range of youth and community programs including charitable fundraising, nonprofit partnerships, award programs, special events and other grassroots programming while ensuring the successful execution of best-in-class, fan-first brand experiences and customer service.
What will you do?
- Help develop and execute programming that aligns with our community and youth program strategies
- Assist with execution of the team’s planned fundraising initiatives.
- Serve as the liaison with Garden of Dreams and other nonprofit entities throughout the New York Metropolitan area to create unique community partnerships and to expand existing programs.
- Work in coordination with a variety of internal & external stakeholders to ensure alignment with core business objectives and league-wide deliverables, as well as player programs.
- Assist with managing our robust in-kind donation program, which supports hundreds of local non-profit organizations. Responsible for inventory maintenance, vetting donation requests, communicating with requestors, and fulfillment requests.
- Help organize and track department spending, based on annual budgets, including submitting purchase orders and processing invoices. Help manage project-specific budgets.
- Responsible for updating department calendars and impact reports.
- Manage customer database in coordination with MSG’s CRM system, including updating, tracking, and reporting.
- Monitor and handle customer service-related requests (mail, community email inbox, phone calls).
- Assist with Junior Rangers/Knicks events and other duties as assigned.
What will you need to succeed?
- Ideal candidate will have 1 – 3 years’ experience in a fast-paced work environment, have a basic understanding of the NHL/NBA
- Experience working with grassroots/community programs or events, and is eager to learn, share ideas, and grow in a dynamic setting
- Detail-oriented, highly organized individual with experience or interest in project management
- Adaptable individual who will establish effective relationships across multiple departments and functional areas
- Interested in operations, social responsibility and fan development with a sports team
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Undergraduate college degree required
- Must be able to work nights and weekends
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs and occasionally more. Must be prepared to stand for long periods of time and walk / transport supplies to and from storage units.
