Job Description

The Opportunity

Lesley University seeks a Core Faculty member and Coordinator of the School & Community Programs who will teach courses in the master's and doctoral programs in Counseling and Psychology and provide academic leadership for the School Counseling and School & Community programs. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Mental Health and Wellbeing and working closely with the Department Chair, this faculty member will provide academic leadership for the School & Community specialization while teaching in the master's and doctoral programs.

The successful candidate will help prepare students for Massachusetts licensure as School Counselors, School Adjustment Counselors, and Licensed Mental Health Counselors, while advancing a program grounded in social justice, trauma-informed practice, culturally responsive counseling, and partnerships between schools, families, and communities.

This role includes teaching graduate courses, advising and mentoring students, contributing to curriculum and program development, engaging in scholarship, participating in departmental and university service, and supporting accreditation and licensure requirements. The faculty member will collaborate with the Associate Provost, Department Chair, and student success staff to strengthen student learning, faculty development, and the continued growth of the School & Community specialization.

Qualities & Capabilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a PhD or terminal degree (or be near completion by time of hire) in Counselor Education and Supervision, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field.

  • Be licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts as an LMHC, LICSW, LMFT, LPC, LPCC, or related behavioral health credential (preferred).

  • Hold or be eligible for Massachusetts DESE School Counselor and/or School Adjustment Counselor licensure (required).

  • Demonstrate expertise in school-based counseling, prevention and intervention models, trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, and collaboration with families and community agencies.

  • Have graduate-level teaching experience.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice, equity, and culturally responsive teaching and clinical practice.

  • Have experience advising and mentoring graduate students (strongly preferred).

  • Possess excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative leadership skills.
