Tyler Technologies is seeking a Corporate Attorney to join our legal team.   The Corporate Attorney will provide strategic legal guidance and serve as principal negotiator of certain client and vendor contracts for a variety of Tyler's business units. The Corporate Attorney will assist in responding to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and provide its assigned business units with a broad spectrum of business counseling and legal advice. This is a fast-paced position which offers you the ability to join a stable, growing, publicly traded company and interact with all levels of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with business leaders and other members of the legal team to:

  • Serve as primary legal contact for assigned business units, providing strategic guidance on a broad spectrum of legal issues.

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of complex agreements, including enterprise master agreements, software licensing, SaaS, payment processing, professional services, marketing and vendor agreements.

  • Review and prepare responses to government RFPs.

  • Track legislation and new industry rules, trends and regulations concerning payment transactions.

  • Effectively communicate directly with leaders regarding legal matters.

  • Constantly learn, improve and adapt to new industry trends and requirements.

  • Complete other ad hoc legal assignments.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from accredited U.S. law school; licensed in good standing with a State Bar, as applicable per location.
  • 2-7 years of general corporate or commercial contract experience as an attorney, preferably at a large law firm.
  • Prior experience negotiating complex contracts, preferably related to Fintech, payment systems, money transmission, or software licensing.
  • Background in handling privacy and AI compliance matters
  • Experience contracting with state or federal governments is desirable, but not necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and provide business-practical legal advice.
  • Self-starter and ability to manage various independent tasks and customers.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to team environment.
  • The ability to travel up to once/month for onsite contract negotiations and client collaboration.
