Job Description

Corporate Compliance Intern

Overview

The Corporate Compliance Intern will work closely with the Compliance Manager and Corporate Integrity Department to support agency-wide compliance, and, risk management activities. This internship provides hands-on experience with healthcare and human services compliance, internal auditing, regulatory research, policy review, and organizational governance within a large nonprofit organization.

The internship is ideal for students interested in healthcare administration, public health, law, public policy, business administration, risk management, nonprofit leadership, or related fields. This internship will have a Fall 2026 start date.

Intern Activities

  • Assist with compliance monitoring and internal auditing activities.
  • Support the review and organization of agency policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with accreditation and regulatory readiness activities, including Council on Accreditation (COA) standards review and documentation preparation..
  • Support compliance training efforts through preparation of educational materials and training resources.
  • Conduct research regarding federal, state, and local regulations affecting child welfare, behavioral health, education, healthcare, and nonprofit operations.
  • Assist with compliance tracking logs, and other monitoring activities.
  • Assist with preparation of reports, presentations, and materials for compliance committees, leadership teams, and governing bodies.
  • Participate in department meetings, workgroups, and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Risk Management, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Must be enrolled in an internship program and receiving school credit for internship hours
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and summarize findings accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Interest in compliance, quality assurance, accreditation, healthcare administration, or nonprofit operations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.

Internship Details

  • Supervision and mentorship will be provided by the Corporate Compliance Manager through regularly scheduled meetings focused on professional development, project guidance, and learning objectives.
  • Opportunity to gain exposure to compliance, privacy, risk management, and organizational governance functions.
  • Opportunity to participate in audit preparation, policy review, compliance monitoring, and regulatory research activities.
  • Exposure to the operational and regulatory requirements of a nonprofit organization serving children, families, and communities.
