Position Summary
Carter Hospitality is seeking an experienced and results-driven Corporate Director of Marketing to lead the strategy, execution, and performance of marketing initiatives across a diverse portfolio of destination resorts, wineries, and hospitality experiences.
This role is responsible for driving measurable revenue growth through innovative, data-driven marketing strategies that increase resort occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), direct bookings, wine sales, and guest loyalty. The ideal candidate brings a strong balance of strategic vision, analytical expertise, and hands-on leadership.
The Corporate Director of Marketing will collaborate closely with operations, revenue management, and sales leadership to develop integrated campaigns that connect guests to exceptional experiences—from wine country getaways and culinary events to spa retreats and seasonal activations.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Marketing Leadership
  • Develop and implement comprehensive corporate marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals and revenue objectives.
  • Lead annual marketing planning and budget development for all properties and business units.
  • Evaluate market conditions, competitive landscape, industry trends, and consumer behavior to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Ensure alignment of marketing initiatives with the company’s brand identity and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Partner closely with revenue management, sales, and operations leadership to drive demand generation, optimize occupancy, and maximize ADR.
  • Develop strategies to increase direct bookings and reduce reliance on third-party distribution channels.
Brand Management
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a consistent corporate brand identity across all marketing channels and materials.
  • Ensure brand standards are upheld across properties, digital platforms, advertising, and promotional campaigns.
  • Direct the creation and approval of marketing collateral, advertising materials, and brand communications.
Marketing Campaign Development
  • Lead the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns to promote the resort, spa, restaurants, and related services.
  • Oversee digital marketing strategy including website management, email marketing, social media presence, and online advertising.
  • Ensure marketing initiatives support key revenue drivers including rooms, food and beverage, spa services, and group sales.
  • Develop and promote experiential programming including wine events, culinary experiences, seasonal activations, and guest experiences that increase visitation and length of stay.
Guest & CRM Marketing
  • Oversee guest database strategy, email marketing, and CRM initiatives designed to increase repeat visitation, guest loyalty, and wine club growth.
  • Develop lifecycle marketing strategies that engage guests before, during, and after their stay.
Winery and Brand Integration
  • Support the marketing and brand development of the company’s estate wine brands.
  • Integrate winery experiences, tasting rooms, wine clubs, and resort stays into unified marketing campaigns.
Public Relations and Media Relations
  • Manage the PR agency to develop and maintain relationships with key media outlets, influencers, tourism organizations, and industry partners.
  • Oversee press relations, publicity campaigns, and brand storytelling initiatives.
  • Coordinate media events, press visits, and public relations activities that promote the brand and enhance reputation.
Marketing Analytics and Reporting
  • Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics, campaign results, and return on investment.
  • Utilize analytics tools and data sources such as CRM platforms, website analytics, and digital engagement metrics to guide marketing decisions.
  • Prepare regular reports and strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Provide insights to leadership regarding market demand trends, competitive positioning, and opportunities for revenue growth.
Budget and Vendor Management
  • Develop and manage the corporate marketing budget to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Oversee relationships with external marketing agencies, creative partners, and media vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and evaluate vendor performance.
Leadership and Team Development
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise marketing team members.
  • Establish clear goals and performance expectations for marketing staff.
  • Promote a collaborative and innovative work environment that supports professional growth and organizational success.
Cross Department Collaboration
  • Partner with leadership teams across operations, food and beverage, spa, sales, and events to support business initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions to support revenue growth and brand development.
  • Provide marketing guidance and support to property-level teams as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by executive leadership.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 8-12 years of progressive marketing leadership experience, preferably within hospitality, resort, or tourism industries.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic marketing plans.
  • Experience managing integrated digital marketing, brand management, and public relations initiatives.
  • Experience leading marketing teams and managing agency relationships.
