Corrections Deputy

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office is looking for enthusiastic employees to work in the EBR Parish Prison. Overtime Required: As neededA Corrections Deputy's job duties involve maintaining the safety and security of inmates in a correctional facility. Responsibilities include supervising inmates, enforcing rules, maintaining order, and ensuring the facility is secure.Key aspects of a Corrections Officer role:Supervision and Monitoring:Observing and monitoring inmate behavior, movement, and activities to prevent disturbances and ensure compliance with rules.Enforcement of Rules and Regulations:Administering disciplinary actions for rule violations, maintaining order, and ensuring adherence to facility policies.Security and Safety:Conducting searches, maintaining security, and responding to emergencies to ensure a safe environment for both staff and inmates.Documentation and Reporting:Maintaining accurate records of inmate activities, incidents, and observations.Interactions with Inmates:Building relationships with inmates, mediating conflicts, and providing guidance to promote positive behavior.Training and Development:Participating in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to correctional practices and procedures.Qualifications: The incumbent must be a minimum age of 18 years; have a high school diploma or equivalent; no felony convictions and no convictions of perjury, false statement or moral turpitude charge as an adult. All other arrests and convictions will be reviewed on a case by-case basis. Must have good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
