Job Description
Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Taneytown, MD 21787
Pay Rate: $30.00-$34.00/hour depending on experience
Shift: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm
Duration: 6 months (w/ possible extension)

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail?oriented Cost Accountant to join our local finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. In this role, you will support the full accounting and finance structure for the site, partner closely with operations, and provide assistance to additional facilities as needed. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and experienced in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage month?end reporting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial results.
- Execute month?end close processes for Inventory, Purchasing, and Accounts Receivable, including reconciliations.
- Perform project accounting, including monthly margin reviews and project cost processing.
- Prepare and analyze sales and margin performance reports.
- Process journal entries including accruals, prepayments, and internal recharges.
- Maintain and reconcile Fixed Assets and related records.
- Complete month?end booking reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Maintain, manage, and improve the standard costing system.
- Conduct data analysis related to manufacturing, cost behavior, and operational performance.
- Support additional accounting or finance duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong background and hands?on experience in Cost Accounting.
- Solid understanding of general accounting policies and GAAP principles.
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey financial insights clearly.
- Ability to challenge existing processes and recommend improved workflows and solutions.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, BPC, or SAP is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus 3–5 years of relevant experience.
