We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Permanent Cost Accounting Manager to join our team in the Manufacturing industry. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of the cost accounting function. You will be tasked with the planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cost standards for materials and labor.
- Design and implement cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Prepare and analyze cost reports, including variance analysis, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities.
- Conducts physical inventories and monitors the cycle count program.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure accurate product costing.
- Prepare, monitor, and control annual budget.
- Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
- Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
- Assist in the improvement of internal controls related to inventory.
- Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
- Work closely with manufacturing personnel to understand and analyze manufacturing overheads.
- Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost, and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by division.
- Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research, and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA or CMA certification will be considered a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
- Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Proficient in Excel and computerized accounting software.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented setting.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting is a must.
