Counseling Intern / Therapy Intern – Behavioral Health (Housing Provided)

Project Patch – Garden Valley, Idaho

Housing Provided | Supervision Toward Licensure | Residential Behavioral Health Internship

Project Patch is seeking Graduate Practicum and Internship Students and Undergraduate Behavioral Health Interns to join our licensed and Joint Commission accredited residential treatment program serving adolescents ages 12–17.

This internship provides hands-on clinical experience working with adolescents in a residential behavioral health setting.

Interns receive direct client contact hours and supervision that may count toward graduate practicum or internship requirements depending on university guidelines.

Supervision toward LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LCPC, or LMSW licensure is available.

Housing and campus meals are provided for interns relocating to Garden Valley, Idaho, located on the banks of the Payette River one hour north of Boise.

We welcome applicants from Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and surrounding western states who are interested in gaining meaningful experience in behavioral health treatment.

Many interns choose to continue working with Project Patch after graduation as licensed therapists, making this internship a strong foundation for a career in residential behavioral health.

About Project Patch

Project Patch is a non-profit Christian-based adolescent residential treatment center serving youth ages 12–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, and family challenges.

Youth attend our program when community-based interventions have not been successful, and they require a structured therapeutic environment.

Our program is:

  • Licensed by the State of Idaho

  • Accredited by The Joint Commission

  • A residential treatment center serving up to 40 adolescents

  • Supported by a team of therapists, residential mentors, educators, and clinical staff

Graduate Counseling / Therapy Intern Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention

  • Co-facilitate group therapy and family therapy sessions

  • Teach or assist with DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) groups

  • Participate in Solutions and Nurture therapeutic groups

  • Implement Trauma-Informed Care approaches

  • Communicate weekly with parents or guardians

  • Assist with treatment planning

  • Complete clinical documentation and client notes

  • Participate in supervision and training

Undergraduate Behavioral Health Intern Responsibilities

  • Mentor adolescents while learning TBRI® caregiving

  • Assist therapists with DBT, Solutions, and Nurture groups

  • Support therapeutic programming in the residential setting

  • Assist with documentation and client records

  • Observe and learn clinical counseling practices

Internship Schedule

Internship schedules typically align with university practicum or internship requirements and may range from 16–40 hours per week depending on academic program requirements.

Fall, Spring, and Summer internship placements may be available.

Location

Garden Valley, Idaho (Approximately 1 hour north of Boise)

Housing is provided for interns relocating.

Project Patch has hosted interns from counseling, social work, psychology, and marriage and family therapy programs. We welcome applicants from universities throughout the region, including:
