Position Summary:Franklin Pierce University invites applications for a Counselor Clinician. This is a full-time, year-round, live-in position responsible for providing individual counseling, clinical supervision and/or group therapy services, wellness activities, initiatives and programs to students. The Counselor Clinician contributes to Counseling Services’ mission of empowering students to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals within an environment that is safe, supportive, inclusive, and affirming.The Counseling Clinician reports directly to the Senior Director of Student Wellness and Outreach Education. Typical Schedule:Franklin Pierce University promotes sustainable clinical practice through reasonable caseload expectations, dedicated documentation time, opportunities for professional development, and a strong commitment to staff wellbeing and work-life balance.This is a 12-month, exempt, live-in position designed to provide flexibility and work-life balance while supporting our vibrant residential community. Typical office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Given the dynamic nature of campus life on a small residential campus, occasionally early mornings, evenings, and weekends may be required to meet student and departmental needs. The Counselor Clinician must be prepared to adjust daily work hours as needed to accommodate students’ schedules and counseling needs.We value the well-being of our staff and encourage a balanced approach to work, allowing for flexibility in scheduling when possible. Our team is committed to supporting one another, ensuring that responsibilities are shared equitably, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:The Counselor Clinician will provide culturally affirming clinical services including triage, assessments, intake evaluations, diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, brief individual counseling, couples counseling, and group therapy. The clinician will assist students requiring longer-term or specialized care in connecting with appropriate campus and community resources, including psychiatric referrals when needed. The clinician will maintain responsibility for all administrative and documentation requirements related to clinical service delivery.The Counselor Clinician will also contribute to campus wellness initiatives through outreach programming, consultation with faculty and staff, and participation in interdisciplinary student support efforts. Additionally, the Counselor Clinician will partner with Student Affairs colleagues and campus partners to design and lead creative wellness programming, appropriate to the field, student needs and within ethical standards of practice. Licensed clinicians may provide clinical supervision and training opportunities for trainees and emerging professionals as appropriate.Leading Others: If yes, who? Programmatic supervision and functional supervision of Peer Counselors and Interns.Position Requirements/Skills/Abilities:

Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related field, with a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience providing psychotherapy; or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology with eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist in the State of New Hampshire and ability to provide clinical supervision, if applicable.
Current independent clinical licensure in the State of New Hampshire (e.g., LCMHC, LICSW, Psychologist) or eligibility and ability to obtain New Hampshire licensure within a specified timeframe after hire.
Demonstrated experience working with traditional college-aged students (18–25) and familiarity with developmental, academic, and psychosocial concerns common in higher education settings.
Demonstrated experience in wellness and harm reduction programming and activities.
Knowledge of best practices in crisis intervention, clinical assessment, risk assessment, and suicide prevention.
Commitment to providing culturally responsive, inclusive, and affirming clinical services to a diverse student population.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and function effectively in a fast-paced, student-centered clinical environment.
Experience using electronic health record systems and maintaining clinical documentation, case notes, and diagnostic records consistent with professional and ethical standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and related administrative technologies.
Successful completion of a background check required.
