Courthouse Security - Bailiff

Cooke County is seeking qualified and dedicated candidates for the position of Courthouse Security-Bailiff. The Courthouse Security

• Bailiff discharges special law enforcement duties for a designated court and provides security for the Cooke County courthouse and other Cooke County buildings and property as directed. The Bailiff is responsible for, but not limited to, courtroom security, jury instruction, handling and caretaking. The Bailiff will maintain order and control of prisoners and the general public's decorum while in the courtroom. When directed by the judge, the Bailiff will make arrests within the courtroom ensuring that prisoners are properly secured. The Bailiff is responsible for all clerical duties and court docket execution as may be required. At all times, the Bailiff will discharge all duties with professional bearing, courtesy and tact. During the discharge of courtroom duties, the Bailiff will act at the direction of the presiding judge of the court. When not actively engaged with courtroom duties, the Bailiff is subject to the directions from the Supervisor of Courthouse Security. The Courthouse Security Deputy may be directed or required to perform additional tasks not enumerated here. Must possess an ACTIVE Texas Peace Officer Certification from the Law Enforcement Commission. Minimum 2 YEARS experience as a Peace Officer is required. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Must never have been convicted of a Family Violence, Felony or Class A offense
