Crew Chief - Community Janitorial Services (Full-Time)

The Arc of Ocean County is hiring a Full-Time Crew Chief to lead community-based janitorial crews while mentoring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a real-world work environment. This unique position combines leadership, commercial cleaning expertise, and vocational coaching to help individuals develop valuable job skills while providing exceptional service to businesses throughout Ocean County.

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule:

• Flexible Schedule Based on Program and Contract Needs
• Evening and Weekend Availability Required
• Must Be Available to Work at Least One Weekend Shift Each Week

Pay:$22.25 per hour

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly

What You'll Do

Lead the Crew

• Supervise and mentor individuals participating in The Arc's Community Janitorial Services program.
• Provide hands-on instruction that helps crew members build confidence, workplace skills, and greater independence.
• Foster a positive, respectful work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
• Recognize individual strengths while providing coaching to improve performance and job readiness.

Deliver Quality Cleaning Services

• Perform commercial cleaning duties alongside crew members at contracted customer locations throughout Ocean County.
• Ensure work is completed efficiently and meets established quality standards and customer expectations.
• Utilize proper cleaning techniques and floor care procedures, including stripping, waxing, and maintaining large floor surfaces.
• Monitor completed work and provide constructive feedback to maintain consistent service quality.

Promote Safety & Professionalism

• Reinforce safe work practices and ensure compliance with agency policies and workplace safety standards.
• Transport crew members safely between job sites using agency vehicles.
• Represent The Arc of Ocean County professionally while building positive relationships with customers and community partners.
• Address operational concerns promptly and communicate updates to program leadership.

Support Program Success

• Assist with documenting daily activities, participant progress, and operational information.
• Encourage individuals to develop transferable employment skills that promote long-term success in the workforce.
• Contribute to a program that creates meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Requirements

We're looking for experienced professionals who are dependable, safety-conscious, and passionate about helping others succeed.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
• Ability to safely operate a 10–12 passenger vehicle.
• Minimum of two (2) years of janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience required.
• Experience performing floor care procedures, including stripping, waxing, and maintaining large floor surfaces required.
• Must successfully complete all required state and federal background screenings and hiring requirements.

Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is welcomed but not required.
