CT Quality & Safety Coordinator

Days - Full Time

Position Summary / Career Interest:

The CT Quality & Safety Coordinator provides ongoing support, instruction, and facilitation of quality and process improvement, as well as meeting the regulatory requirements. The CT Quality & Safety Coordinator identifies opportunities for improvement through analysis of data, feedback, and observation. The coordinator will use quality improvement methodology and project management to analyze, track, communicate, and sustain improvement work. This position is responsible for coordinating data collection, managing change, and reporting. The coordinator is a champion for patient and employee safety within CT. The coordinator will assist with regulatory compliance and patient relations needs.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • CT Safety & Compliance
  • Ensures comprehensive CT safety compliance throughout department.
  • Collaborate with CT leadership in the development and review of all policies and procedures relating to CT safety.
  • Ensures quality control, improvement, facilitation, and sustainability of QI activities, such as A3, 5S, Lean, huddle boards, report outs, and safety rounding.
  • Maintains a high-level knowledge of all departmental policies and procedures and participates in review/updates of policies relating to CT safety. Responsible for ensuring that safety standards are followed to include but not limited to, dose, contrast and medication administration, and proper use of Omnicells.
  • Quality Improvement & Data Management
  • Leads quality improvement initiatives, committees, and/or meetings with leadership.
  • Organizes project development, facilitation, and sustainability of QI activities, such as A3, 5S, Lean, huddle boards, report outs, and safety rounding.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for clinical, quality, and performance improvement indicators, ensuring accurate data interpretation according to best practices and standard work procedures.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, committees, and/or meetings with leadership.
  • Coordinate data collection, manage change initiatives, and provide comprehensive reporting on improvement outcomes.
  • Operations Support & Patient Care
  • Assists leadership with daily operations, including patient and staff schedules, equipment issues/maintenance, etc. Acts as a resource to improve schedule and workflow standardization and efficiency.
  • Performs direct patient care as required and assigned to meet patient care needs.
  • Ensures efficiency, organization, and safety of daily operations and equipment use.
  • Demonstrates competency in all CT procedures and maintains clinical expertise.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and coordinates service repairs with vendors when needed.
  • Collaboration & Leadership Development
  • Effectively and professionally interacts and collaborates with various departments to coordinate patient care, including physicians, nurses, schedulers, anesthesia, and cardiology.
  • Assists staff with personal growth and improvement and provides opportunities for engagement in new procedures, leadership, or personal development.
  • Reports organizational, personnel, and/or equipment issues to leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes continuous learning and improvement.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology
  • 5 or more years CT registered
  • 5 or more years CT technologist experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree Radiologic Technology, Business, IT, Data Analytics, Healthcare Admin, or similar
  • 1 or more years Experience in an academic healthcare setting
  • 1 or more years Project Management, Quality Improvement

Required Licensure and Certification

  • Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) Licensed by the State of Kansas Board of Healing Arts

Preferred Licensure and Certification

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) - National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) CPHQ, NAHQ, IHI, or similar

Required Language Skills

  • Fluent English -

Knowledge Requirements

  • Excellent communication, writing, organizational, time-management, and presentation skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines while maintaining composure.
  • Ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, administrative staff, clinical personnel, peers, and patients.
  • Demonstrate persistence in solving problems.
  • Travel between UKHS sites/locations.
