Culinary Director

Westhaven, now managed by Cassia, is hiring a Culinary Director to help lead our team!  Known for our small-town and tight-knit, mission-driven culture, Westhaven is a place where relationships matter and employees feel valued. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality, quality food service, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults.As the Culinary Director, you will oversee daily operations of the Food & Nutrition Services department to ensure exceptional dining experiences and high-quality nutritional care for our residents. You will lead and supervise culinary staff, coordinate menus with dietitians, manage scheduling, and ensure compliance with food service regulations. The ideal candidate has at least two years of supervisory experience, prior commercial cooking experience, strong communication skills, and a ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).Position Type: Full-Time, benefits eligible positionLocation: 112 W 4th St, Boone, IA 50036Culinary Director Responsibilities:

• Ensure appropriate nutritional care is provided to all residents.
• Coordinate with home office dietitians to plan meals at the campus.
• Oversee daily operations of the Culinary Services department.
• Guarantee meals, snacks, and supplements are planned, prepared, and served to residents in a pleasant atmosphere.
• Complete nutritional interviews with residents.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise department staff.
• Prepare employee schedules, maintain attendance records, and approve payroll.
• Promote special food events (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.) for residents and guests.
• Perform additional tasks as required.

• 2+ years of leadership/ supervisory experience required.
• ServSafe certificate required or obtained upon hire.
• CDM preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal food service regulations, preferred.
• Large scale batch cooking experience required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
