PRIMARY PURPOSE: Use specialized equipment to thoroughly remove all peanut and trash debris from all areas of ballpark post-game. Assist with disposal of all trash throughout the ballpark.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
General
- Operate backpack blower to thoroughly blow/collect all peanut and trash debris from all areas of the ballpark including by not limited to: seating bowl, concourse, parking garage, suite balconies, picnic areas and other areas as assigned.
- Secure and store seat covers and seat cushions in designated areas of the ballpark per supervisor/lead instructions.
- Read and understand cleaning chemical product use instructions.
- Document all unusual or unique occurrences, maintenance, or safety defects and report to a Supervisor, Lead, and/or
- Security Control in a timely manner.
- Detect and report defects in blower equipment to Supervisor and/or Lead.
- Utilize safety equipment while working such as back brace, protective eye wear, and hearing protection as needed to maintain safety standards.
- Promptly monitor all public areas of the ballpark, reporting any matter that requires medical, security, custodial or maintenance personnel using means and methods provided in handbook, in a timely manner, continue to monitor to ensure satisfactory resolution.
- Ability to learn and perform basic equipment maintenance
- Obtain, comprehend and disseminate instructions and vital information especially in the event of emergencies
- All of the above determinations are to be done in conjunction with the Post-Game Supervisor and may be dictated by weather conditions and game/event ending times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Night Blower Drivers
- Must have valid driver's license to drive
- Drive Cushman cart throughout ballpark safely and pick up ALL trash and recycle, dispose of in designated trash or recycle compactor
Compactor Attendants
- Monitor all four compactors ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
- Dispose of necessary materials in trash or recycle compactor
- Required sort all recyclable materials and ensure they are placed in the correct collections receptable
- Learn and safely operate cardboard bailer
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Required to become member of Service Employees International Union, SEIU 1
- Valid driver's license (Required for select positions)
- Professionally interact with all guests and employees in a clear and effective manner.
- Actively engage and listen to all guests and professionally answer any questions or concerns in a timely manner
- Trustworthy and dependable
- Ability to hear, comprehend and disseminate instructions and vital information especially in the event of emergencies
- Basic computer operating skills (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Internet explorer, ABI, Ultipro)
- Capability to lift and transport 50 lb. backpack blower
DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Familiarize yourself with and comprehend the relevant policies and procedures of the Ballpark Services department and the Cleveland Guardians Organization
- Develop a clear understanding of various departments within the organization and the specific responsibilities of staff members in the department
- Effectively monitor and implement policies and procedures, maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with guests
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of all areas within the ballpark to provide accurate directions and assistance to guests
- Maintain a professional appearance in compliance with the Employee Handbook and our uniform requirements
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Available to work the vast majority of all home games during the months of April through October
- Attend all required trainings and daily briefings
- Ability to work entire assigned shift, this includes but not limited to pre-events, post-events, and rain delays
- Typical Work Hours (subject to change depending on game/event times):
- All start times to be scheduled and dictated by Manager
- Typical start times on game days will be 4 hours after scheduled start of the game itself
- Minimum of 4 hours per shift
- Breaks to be determined by supervisor; there are no breaks for 4-hour shifts.
- Work days are determined by the Cleveland Guardians baseball schedule and other ballpark events
ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrates the ability to read, speak, comprehend, and communicate effectively in order to perform job duties and interact with coworkers.
- Represents the Cleveland Guardians in a positive fashion to all business partners, teammates, and the general public.

- Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the role as outlined in the job description, which may include extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, or navigating a multilevel ballpark.

- Ability to act according to the organizational values and service excellence at all times.
- Willingness to work extended days and hours, including holidays and weekends.
- Willingness to adhere to all Major League Baseball and Club policies.

The expected hourly rate for this position is $19.28. This rate serves as a general guideline; actual compensation will be determined based on a candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
