Description

Schedule: 10:30AM - 6:00PM Monday- Friday

Reports To: Manager of Construction and Facilities

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-time

Summary: The Custodian fulfills the mission by assisting in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the Pastoral Ministry Center and it's grounds. This role often involves both routine maintenance and special tasks related to event set ups, services, and activities. The tasks this role completes are essential to ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for staff and visitors.

Requirements

Position Responsibilities:

    • Clean and sanitize interior of building, including chapel, restrooms (to include commodes), sinks and walls, hallways, offices and meeting rooms.
    • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all areas of the buildings. Operate electric buffer to scrub, wax, buff, and polish floors.
    • Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins and dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental protocols.
    • Ensure facility grounds are kept clean and work closely with the facilities staff to grounds are well-maintained.
    • Clean windows, doors, and light fixtures as needed.
    • Replenish restroom supplies as needed, unclog commodes and sinks as needed.
    • Replenish break room and coffee station supplies.
    • Provide support for special events by ensuring the areas are ready for use.
    • Monitor and request supplies, toiletries, and other necessary materials for sanitation and hospitality.
  • *Clean windows, doors, and light fixtures as needed.
  • Ensure water fountains and drains are kept clean and in working condition.
  • Alert Facility Manger of required basic repairs, such as fixing minor plumbing or facility issues.
  • Maintain an organized storage areas for cleaning supplies and equipment, keeping hazardous materials safely stored.
  • Ensure that all fire exits, and emergency equipment are functional and accessible.
  • *Ensure locking doors and windows after hours to make sure the premises remains secure.
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a custodial/ sanitation role.

License and Credentials:

  • Reliable transportation

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have working knowledge of cleaners and custodial chemicals.
  • Extensive working knowledge of custodial machinery.
  • A solid grasp of industry standards for sanitation and janitorial work.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in disagreeable conditions such as dust, dirt, waste and restrooms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and have exceptional communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills.
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
