Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To, keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls, glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of needed repairs, and grounds maintenance.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Cleaning building floors by sweeping, mopping, striping, or vacuuming
- Gather and empty trash
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
- Dust furniture, wall, and equipment
- Knowledge of HAZMAT Information Systems, and the proper storage of hazardous chemicals
- Clean and restore building interiors using commercial cleaning equipment
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, manually or by using hand trucks
- Requisition supplies and equipment as needed per BGCCTX policy and procedure
- Mow and trim outdoor areas, shrubbery, using mowers and hand held power equipment as assigned
- Service, clean, and supply restroom areas
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage or injury
- Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insects and rodent infestation
- And additional duties as assigned by management
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions.
SKILL/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read basic operating instructions
- Some custodial cleaning experience or the ability to be trained in these areas
- Good organization and attention to detail
- Strong ability to multi-task under a deadline
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Climbing and balancing at excessive heights
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (hot and cold)
- Exposure to chemicals, insecticides, detergents, acids, and cleaning products
- Able to withstand heights
