STARTING WAGE: $15.00 per hour
SUMMARY
This position oversees the daily cleaning of all transit assets including but not limited to buses, vans, service cars, and facilities. Will ensure that the cleanliness of the assets represent the department in a positive manner, and that all duties are performed in accordance with all safety regulations. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform vehicle interior cleaning, including, but not limited to ceilings, lights, windows, walls, seats, floors, doors, wheelchair lift doors, step wells, dashboards, and mirrors.
- Perform vehicle exterior cleaning to include, but not limited to the removal of dust, dirt, grease, and oil from all exterior surfaces, bumpers, and wheels manually or by driving through automatic equipment.
- Perform interior and exterior cleaning of Transit Facilities and shelters.
- Inspect vehicle interiors and exteriors for defects and report to maintenance staff.
- Empty trash cans daily.
- Drives, maneuvers, and parks vehicles.
- Fuels buses and completes paperwork associated with Utilities.
- Inspect vehicle fluid levels when needed.
- Change out fare boxes.
- Maintain a safe, clean "team" oriented environment.
- Assist in training new utilities staff
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma and/or its equivalent and a minimum of one year of custodial experience. Valid Texas Driver's License required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to operate a vehicle that is in excess of 30' in length.
- Ability to drive all Transit Department vehicles.
- Ability to read, comprehend, abide by, and ensure staff compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets and department safety procedures.
- Ability to keep accurate records and maintain a professional appearance.
- Ability to work independently in the absence of management staff.
- Ability to communicate with colleagues appropriately and professionally.
- Ability to write legibly and coherently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The majority of the work is accomplished in a safe and secure indoor work environment or at the downtown terminal but may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands. The employee will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures and will work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
