Position: Custodian-Part-Time

Reports to: Assistant Director

Salary Range: $14.75 - $16.69 per hour

SUMMARY: Cleans the recreation center and arranges meeting rooms and recreation facilities to provide safe and sanitary facilities for the City.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintains hallways, floors, furniture and windows to ensure safe and sanitary recreation facilities.
2. Prepares rooms for meetings including appropriate set-up and take-down to ensure smooth activity operation.
3. Cleans bathrooms, replenishes paper products and soap, and secures windows and doors to ensure a safe and sanitary community center.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Mental: Able to work with a wide variety of people through varying circumstances. Able to concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to work independently and follow both oral and written instructions. Communicates clearly verbally. Remains calm in difficult situations. Can effectively organize and prioritize work.

Physical: Able to lift, carry and handle up to 100 pounds. Able to walk up to five miles a day. Has strength and manual dexterity to operate various maintenance and automobile fueling equipment and supplies. Able to stoop, bend, climb and crawl as needed to adequately clean facilities. Position requires working with approved cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.   Must be capable of operating and/or carrying some equipment for long periods of time. Able to work from heights. Works in cooled/heated building with other staff members.
