Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly dependable, detail-oriented Customer Cleaning Inspector to help ensure our commercial cleaning services consistently meet our company’s quality standards.

This is a quality-control position — not a cleaning position.

Your primary responsibility is to visit assigned commercial client locations after cleaning services have been completed, carefully inspect the quality of the work, document your findings, and submit accurate inspection reports.

We are looking for someone who naturally notices the details other people miss. You should be able to recognize both excellent cleaning and areas that have been overlooked while remaining fair, consistent, and objective when evaluating cleaning teams.

Your job is simple:

Inspect. Document. Report.

You will not be responsible for cleaning, supervising cleaners, scheduling employees, selling services, or resolving customer complaints.

What You’ll Do

  • Travel to assigned commercial client locations to perform quality inspections.
  • Inspect completed cleaning services according to the client’s scope of work and company quality standards.
  • Follow established inspection checklists without skipping required areas.
  • Identify commonly missed cleaning areas and legitimate quality deficiencies.
  • Take clear photographs when documentation is needed.
  • Write specific notes describing deficiencies or observations.
  • Complete and submit inspection reports promptly.
  • Rate cleaning performance according to established company standards.
  • Recognize excellent cleaning performance as well as deficiencies.
  • Identify recurring quality problems or patterns.
  • Communicate inspection findings clearly to the appropriate company representative.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Interact professionally and respectfully with customers when necessary.
  • Protect customer privacy, property, and confidential information.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time and communicate promptly if an issue prevents completion.

What This Position Does NOT Do

You will not be responsible for:

  • Performing routine cleaning
  • Re-cleaning areas that fail inspection
  • Supervising or managing cleaning employees
  • Scheduling cleaning crews
  • Hiring or firing employees
  • Collecting customer payments
  • Selling or upselling services
  • Making promises to customers regarding corrective action
  • Resolving customer complaints beyond documenting and reporting them

Your responsibility is to inspect, document, and report.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Customer Cleaning Inspector:

  • Completes at least 95% of assigned inspections on time
  • Performs thorough rather than rushed inspections
  • Consistently follows the inspection checklist
  • Identifies legitimate cleaning deficiencies
  • Does not unfairly penalize cleaning teams
  • Provides useful photographs and specific documentation
  • Submits reports promptly
  • Applies the same standards across different customers and cleaning teams
  • Communicates professionally with customers and company personnel
  • Can be trusted to work independently

Who Will Excel in This Position?

You may be an excellent fit if you are the type of person who walks into a room and immediately notices that something is out of place.

You enjoy working independently, take pride in doing things correctly, keep your commitments, and don’t need someone constantly reminding you what needs to be done.

You are also fair. Your goal isn’t to “catch” cleaning teams making mistakes. Your goal is to provide an accurate and objective assessment of the quality being delivered to our customers.

If you are dependable, observant, organized, professional, and naturally pay attention to details others overlook, we would like to hear from you.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Highly dependable and punctual
  • Honest and objective
  • Organized
  • Self-motivated
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Consistent when applying standards
  • Professional around customers
  • Comfortable using a smartphone and technology
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing
  • Able to manage multiple inspection locations and deadlines
  • Comfortable identifying deficiencies without being overly critical
  • Able to follow established procedures instead of relying on personal opinions

We especially want someone who naturally notices things such as fingerprints on glass, dust on ledges, debris under furniture, missed corners, restroom residue, improperly vacuumed edges, missing trash liners, floor streaks, dirty baseboards, and other details that can affect a customer’s perception of quality.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Ability to travel between assigned customer locations
  • Smartphone capable of taking clear photographs and completing digital reports
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to follow written inspection procedures and checklists
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize assignments and meet deadlines
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to maintain customer confidentiality

Preferred Experience

Experience in any of the following is helpful but not necessarily required:

  • Commercial cleaning/janitorial services
  • Quality assurance or quality control
  • Property inspections
  • Hotel housekeeping inspection
  • Property management
  • Facility management
  • Building services
  • Field inspection
  • Operations auditing

Commercial cleaning experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.

We value reliability, integrity, attention to detail, and good judgment more than years of cleaning experience.

Benefits

  • Full Time
  • Hourly Rate: $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Mileage/Gas Reimbursement: Provided according to company policy
  • Phone Allowance: $25 per month
  • Performance Bonus: Earn an additional $100 per month when 95% or more of assigned inspections are completed on time.
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Training & Development
