Customer Service / Inside Sales Representative – Commercial Printing

We are an established commercial printing company in New Haven looking for an experienced Customer Service / Inside Sales Representative to join our team.

This is an important customer-facing position for someone who understands the printing industry and enjoys helping customers take projects from initial request through successful completion.

The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, comfortable managing multiple jobs at once, and able to communicate confidently with customers about print specifications, pricing, timelines, materials, and production options. Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who can develop strong customer relationships and identify opportunities to grow business with our existing accounts.

Previous experience in the commercial printing industry is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customers
• Respond to customer inquiries by phone and email promptly and professionally
• Discuss print projects with customers and gather complete job specifications
• Prepare estimates and quotes or coordinate pricing for more complex projects
• Enter and manage orders from quote through production and delivery
• Review job details for accuracy before releasing work into production
• Communicate with our graphics/prepress and production teams regarding customer requirements
• Monitor jobs in progress and proactively communicate with customers regarding schedules, questions, or potential issues
• Follow up on estimates and outstanding opportunities
• Recommend products, materials, finishing options, and solutions that fit customers' needs
• Look for opportunities to expand relationships with existing customers
• Help reactivate past customers and develop additional business from established accounts
• Maintain accurate customer, pricing, and job information
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and work with the production team to find solutions
• Build long-term relationships based on responsiveness, reliability, and excellent service

What We're Looking For

• Commercial printing industry experience strongly preferred
• Experience in print customer service, estimating, account management, inside sales, production coordination, or a similar role
• Working knowledge of common commercial printing products and terminology
• Ability to understand specifications such as paper stocks, finished sizes, quantities, color, bleeds, binding, folding, mailing, and finishing
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage numerous active jobs, emails, estimates, and deadlines simultaneously
• Comfortable communicating directly with customers and asking the right questions to fully understand a project
• Strong problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency
• Comfortable working closely with production employees in a fast-paced environment
• Confidence discussing pricing and following up on sales opportunities
• Dependable, positive, professional, and team-oriented

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

• Digital printing
• Offset printing
• Wide-format printing and signage
• Direct mail
• Booklets, manuals, and bound materials
• Promotional products
• Print estimating or MIS/order-management software
• Working with graphic designers and print-ready files
