Customer Service RepresentativeCity of O'Fallon, MissouriPay Range: $21.37–$22.22 DOQ
The City of O'Fallon is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Service Representative. This role supports essential city operations and plays an important part in delivering exceptional service to our residents.
Job SummaryThis position provides administrative and customer service support for departmental operations, including utility account coordination, billing assistance, and customer inquiry resolution.
Major Duties• Answer incoming calls and provide information and customer support regarding accounts• Resolve customer billing questions and concerns• Prepare and dispatch water/sewer tap inspection orders• Prepare delinquent environmental service letters and maintain related account lists• Maintain and dispatch water turn-off lists• Establish new water, sewer, and trash accounts, as well as disconnections• Process final move-ins for existing accounts• Administer the Backflow Program• Assist with winter averaging for sewer accounts• Periodically process billing and serve as backup to the Billing Specialist• Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Required• Knowledge of modern office equipment• Knowledge of customer service standards• Knowledge of basic mathematical principles• Skill in preparing clear and accurate reports• Skill in operating computers and job-related software• Skill in decision making and problem solving• Skill in working effectively with the public• Skill in verbal and written communication
Minimum Qualifications• Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with completion of high school or equivalent• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, typically gained through one to two years in a similar role or through an apprenticeship/internship
