Starting Compensation Range: $114,096-$142,621+ Opportunity to Bonus

YOUR ROLE

The Customs Brokerage Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and all applicable import/export laws. This role oversees brokerage compliance programs, internal controls, audits, P&L for the office and regulatory risk management to support lawful, ethical, and efficient customs operations. The manager serves as a subject-matter expert and liaison for regulatory authorities while providing leadership, training, and guidance to brokerage and trade teams.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

  • Ensure compliance with all U.S. customs laws, regulations, and rulings, including CBP, PGA (Partner Government Agencies), and related federal agencies
  • Develop, implement, and maintain customs brokerage compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess operational impact; lead implementation of new requirements
  • Act as primary point of contact for CBP, auditors, and government agencies during reviews, audits, and inquiries
  • Conduct internal customs compliance audits (entry accuracy, valuation, classification, origin, recordkeeping)
  • Manage corrective action plans for identified risks, errors, or violations
  • Oversee post-entry amendments, protests, disclosures, and penalty mitigation processes
  • Analyze compliance trends, KPIs, and risk indicators to proactively prevent violations
  • Provide compliance guidance to customs brokers, operations teams, and trade professionals
  • Review and approve complex customs issues, including classification, valuation, FTAs, AD/CVD, and special programs
  • Support client onboarding by assessing compliance readiness and documentation requirements
  • Develop and deliver customs compliance training for employees, brokers, and stakeholders
  • Mentor and support brokerage compliance staff or analysts
  • Promote a strong compliance culture across the organization
  • Maintain accurate compliance records in accordance with CBP recordkeeping requirements
  • Prepare reports for leadership on compliance status, risks, and audit outcomes
  • Support management in responding to regulatory findings and enforcement actions
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-8+ years of experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance, or import/export operations
  • Prior experience managing or leading customs compliance programs strongly preferred
  • Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (LCB) highly preferred
  • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist), CTCS, or similar trade compliance certifications a plus

Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. customs laws, CBP regulations, and trade compliance requirements
  • Strong understanding of tariff classification (HTSUS), valuation, country of origin, and FTAs
  • Experience with CBP audits, Focused Assessments, informed compliance reviews, and disclosures
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations in a business environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including regulatory correspondence
  • Proficiency with customs brokerage systems and compliance tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment
  • Internal: Brokerage teams, trade compliance, operations, legal, finance, and leadership
  • External: U.S. Customs and Border Protection, government agencies, clients, and industry partners
