Primary Job Title: Cyber Analyst

Onsite Flexibility: 100% Onsite (Must be within 2 hours of Augusta, ME)

Job Summary: The Department of the Secretary of State (SoS) performs functions considered critical infrastructure by the Department of Homeland Security. The information system is audited by the Social Security Administration and other entities to ensure appropriate security controls are in place to protect sensitive information. The department has implemented the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and requires information security expertise to assist with creating, revising, and managing RMF-related documentation, as well as preparing for independent system assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with creation, revision, and management of RMF-related documentation
- Support preparation for independent assessments of the information system
- Conduct security analysis and respond to incidents
- Identify endpoint anomalies and malware exploitation techniques
- Collaborate with team members and subject matter experts on security events
- Apply risk management, security architecture, and incident response practices
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant information technology field
- Minimum of five years of experience in information security
- Hands-on experience in risk management, information security assessment, and incident response
- Experience with Security Onion, ELK stack, and Threat Down
- Familiarity with NIST standards (Risk Management Framework or Cybersecurity Framework)
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- State or Federal government experience
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure
Required Skills:
- Information Security (5+ years)
- Risk Assessment & Security Auditing
- Network & Penetration Testing
Preferred Skills:
- CISSP, CISM, or CISA certifications
- Security Onion, ELK stack, Threat Down
- Strong analytical and incident response capabilities
- Knowledge of social engineering tactics
Additional Skills:
- Ability to take prompt action on security events
- Strong collaboration skills with technical teams and SMEs
- Ability to identify malware exploitation techniques
- Endpoint anomaly detection
