Summary: Performs pre-analytical duties on specimens for Cytology

• Accessions specimens
• Process gynecological, non-gynecological and fine-needle aspirations slides
• Prepare cell blocks for Histology
• Operates centrifuges and other instrumentation in Cytology, performs slide staining, coverslipping and labeling.
• Maintains instrument and stain QC and performs weekly instrument cleaning.
• Assists pathologists /cytotechnologists as necessary
• Attending on Fine Needle Aspiration
• File and retrieve slides
• Maintain appropriate department supply inventory
• Store specimens appropriately.
• Sort vials for testing sent for molecular testing
• Aliquot specimens for CT/GC & HPV testing

Cross training in Histology may be required

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Additional training in biology, medical terminology and laboratory sciences preferred

Work Shift Details:

Days, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Weekend rotation required
