Job Description
The Shift Lead plays a key role in the daily operations of Derailed Diner. You’ll lead by example, keep the team on track during shifts, and ensure every guest leaves satisfied. You're the go-to person when the manager’s off duty and the one who helps make sure everything runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise team members during shifts and ensure efficient service
- Open and/or close the diner following proper procedures
- Ensure cleanliness and food safety standards are maintained
- Provide training, guidance, and support to team members
- Handle customer concerns and resolve issues professionally
- Monitor shift performance and help maintain labor and food cost goals
- Assist with inventory checks and restocking as needed
- Report shift updates, incidents, or concerns to management
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous restaurant or food service experience (leadership experience a plus)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to stay calm and efficient under pressure
- A positive attitude and team-first mindset
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be dependable, punctual, and professional
