About the Job

Data analytics and business insights sit at the core of how Blackbird makes decisions and scales. In this role, you will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to shape the roadmap, uncover user behavior, and identify the highest-impact opportunities to drive growth, retention, and TPV.

You will play a leading role in shaping the analytics layer of the business — from defining core metrics and evolving our experimentation frameworks to ensuring insights are translated into clear, actionable decisions. Your work will not just explain performance, but actively guide how we allocate resources, prioritize initiatives, and accelerate the company’s top-line growth and long-term value.

Responsibilities

  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to solve ambiguous problems for our business. Your work will result in insights and recommendations that guide the team’s decision making, across all facets of the company

  • Act as owner for a broad scope of data and metrics, from core logging to presentation of data visualizations.

  • Maintain a high bar for statistical rigor. Ensure that we’re conducting experimentation and causal analyses that build confidence with your stakeholders.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Go-to-Market and Growth teams to solve problems and identify product, market and customer trends and opportunities

  • Build and maintain reports, dashboards, metrics, and deep-dive analyses to monitor company performance to be shared regularly with leadership as well as the Board

  • Partner with leadership and key stakeholders to establish and maintain core business KPIs, ensuring alignment across teams.

Requirements

  • A BA/BS in a quantitative field (ex Math, Stats, Physics, or Computer Science) with ≥5+ years of relevant experience or a PhD in a quantitative field with ≥3+ years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience in driving impactful data science projects that tackle ambiguous problem spaces.

  • Ability to influence external stakeholders by synthesizing data learnings into compelling stories.

  • Practical expertise in applying complex modeling frameworks to practical business problems.

  • Strong SQL and Python skills; ability to write and optimize complex queries for large datasets.

  • Experience with BI tools (Amplitude, Looker, Mode, Metabase, or equivalent).

  • Experience working with digital products in an iterative development cycle.

  • Initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance

  • Communicating the results of analyses to leadership teams to influence the company strategy

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry, or a deep knowledge of the local restaurant market and F&B culture

  • Interest in serving up a game-changing loyalty platform for the best restaurants

  • You are an entrepreneurial, forward-thinking leader energized by creating this future.

  • You are relentlessly optimistic about the future and determined to get there.

  • You can pivot on the fly. You’re not looking for a boring job.

  • You want the ball. Our teams ship high caliber work on tight timelines, usually starting from scratch. Owning a problem doesn’t scare you.
