Overview/Summary: Our Client is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Specialist to support onsite Data Center Commissioning projects. In this role, you will lead and perform electrical commissioning activities, including QA/QC testing, Functional Performance Testing, and equipment and systems startup to ensure a safe, functional environment that meets established design requirements and stakeholder expectations.
The Electrical Commissioning Specialist will support owner's L4-L5 Data Center commissioning while overseeing and supporting L0-L3 commissioning activities. This position will work directly with clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve successful project outcomes with a focus on operational performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform electrical commissioning activities for Data Center projects.
- Support owner's L4-L5 commissioning while overseeing and supporting L0-L3 commissioning activities.
- Lead L4/L5 testing and support documentation of L2/L3 commissioning activities.
- Perform and oversee QA/QC inspections, Functional Performance Testing, equipment startup, and systems startup.
- Support commissioning of utility infrastructure, life safety systems, electrical power systems, low-voltage systems, and other building and facility systems.
- Verify electrical systems and equipment meet established design requirements and stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate directly with clients, project stakeholders, contractors, and other project team members.
- Review commissioning documentation and testing results.
- Identify and assist with resolution of commissioning issues and deficiencies.
- Support safe commissioning activities in accordance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Maintain a strong focus on operational performance, system reliability, and efficiency throughout the commissioning process.
- Travel to project locations as required, up to 95%.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience as an Electrical Commissioning Specialist.
- Experience commissioning utility infrastructure, life safety systems, electrical power systems, low-voltage systems, building/facility systems and components, and facility O&M systems.
- 2-3 years of focused Data Center commissioning experience, including documenting L2/L3 activities and leading L4/L5 testing.
- Working knowledge of NFPA, NETA, and NICET electrical testing and code requirements.
- Strong understanding of the construction process.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to successfully complete a background check.
- Ability to travel up to 95%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ideally located in the Washington, DC or Northern Virginia Metro area. Expenses may be considered for the right candidate.
- Industry-recognized commissioning certification.
- IR Thermography Level 1 or Level 2 certification.
- AWS or similar L4 Lead certification.
- NFPA 70E certification.
- OSHA 10 certification required at minimum; OSHA 30 preferred.
- Experience with PQMs.
