Job Description
Title: Data Center TechnicianLocation: Hermiston, OR or Boardman, ORDuration: 6 monthsCompensation: $24/hrWork Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.Role Overview
As a Data Center Technician, you will work both independently and as part of a team to support critical infrastructure in a 24/7 environment. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to respond quickly to operational needs. You will be responsible for installing hardware, troubleshooting systems, maintaining documentation, and resolving issues within the data center.
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of relevant experience in computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT field
- Basic knowledge of commonly used IT concepts, practices, and procedures
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to independently resolve tickets and follow SOPs
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using ticketing systems to manage tasks and priorities
- Experience working in a data center environment
- Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional/military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, network engineering)
- Understanding of network design, protocols, and Layer 1/2 troubleshooting
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain server racks and hardware components
- Perform break-fix repairs and troubleshoot hardware and network issues
- Respond to operational incidents impacting service availability and escalate when necessary
- Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders (engineers, vendors, contractors, etc.)
- Participate in on-call rotations, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities
- Create and maintain documentation; contribute to process improvements
- Assist in training and onboarding new team members
Team Environment
You will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, including software and hardware engineers, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. The team is focused on maintaining high standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency while delivering reliable infrastructure at scale.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and/or move up to 40 lbs regularly; assist with team lifts for heavier items
- Work in confined or elevated spaces
- Perform physical activities such as bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
- Stand and walk for extended periods (8+ hours per day)
- Safely use ladders, stairs, and elevated walkways
- Work in a noisy environment
- Ability to work shifts longer than 8 hours as needed
