In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and support of our mission-critical data center environment in Chicago, Illinois. You’ll work hands-on with hardware, cabling, monitoring systems, and server infrastructure, while collaborating with IT engineers to deliver reliable and secure services to our organization and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and related hardware.
- Monitor system performance, uptime, and environmental conditions within the data center.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment, including hardware inspections and cable management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, connectivity, and power issues.
- Assist with hardware lifecycle management (rack/stack, decommissioning, upgrades).
- Maintain accurate documentation of equipment, workflows, and incidents in Netbox.
- Ensure compliance with security, safety, and operational standards.
Experience & Qualifications
Required- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 3+ years of experience in a data center or IT infrastructure role.
- Familiarity with server hardware, networking basics, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
- Hands-on experience with racking, cabling, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 75 lbs.) as needed.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Knowledge of monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, or similar.
- Familiarity with power management, cooling systems, or large-scale data center operations.
Compensation
- Full-Time, Exempt
- Orangeburg, SC: $30,000 – $60,000/year, DOE
