Data Governance Intern (Summer 2026)

This internship is located in our Nashville, TN or Birmingham, AL office.

This is a paid internship and part-time depending on the students schedule. We are also flexible on the start date based on the student's school schedule. Internship is also able to extend into 2026-2027 school year, dependent on student's schedule.

We are ideally looking for rising Junior or Seniors.

Summary:

The FirstBank Data Governance Analyst Intern serves as a resource on special projects and assignments that support the data governance program of the bank. The role requires a combination of business, analytical, technical and presentation skills.

The primary focus will be on data analysis and business process documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Document current state of business and data flow processes
• Interview business and technical stakeholders and document data issues, gaps, and opportunities
• Identify areas to improve data quality
• Assist in building metrics around data management and data quality standards
• Reviews data quality issues, perform analysis, recommend fixes
• Tracks and reports data quality statistics for data quality
• Collects and updates business metadata and reference data
• Translates business rules into data quality rules and produces data controls
• Supports applications and platforms to enable effective sharing of data
• Provides training and data assistance as needed

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

• Pursuing a college degree in computer science, business administration, finance, or relevant technical, data governance or regulatory compliance experience

Skills and Abilities:

• Self-directed and self-driven with the ability to work with others
• Strong research and problem determination and solution skills
• Principles of Data Analysis with some technical expertise with SQL/SAS/Python/R/etc.
• Ability to present technical information to business partners
• Solid written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical skills
• Ability to review and analyze data, and identify and resolve problems
