Data Governance Specialist – Customer Data Contract (6 Months + Possible extension)Pleasanton, CA (onsite)Pay Rate: $55-60 an hour on W2 (DOE)Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to support customer data governance, quality management, and regulatory compliance initiatives within a retail environment. - Drive initiatives to improve and maintain customer data quality, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
- Implement, monitor, and enforce data governance policies, standards, and business rules across customer data domains.
- Maintain and enhance data governance artifacts, including data catalogs, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable data privacy and protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and related requirements.
- Partner with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to establish and promote data governance best practices.
- Support data stewardship activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of data governance processes.
- Monitor data quality metrics and recommend corrective actions to address data-related issues.
- Proven experience in data governance, data quality management, and master/customer data management.
- Strong understanding of customer data domains within retail or consumer-focused environments.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data stewardship practices, and metadata management concepts.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations, personally identifiable information (PII), and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior leadership and C-suite executives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with data governance and metadata management tools.
- Understanding of customer master data management (MDM) concepts.
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide data governance programs in retail organizations.
