Job Description

Greenfield Engineering, a Saalex Company is seeking Data Integrity Engineer (Avionics Software & Data Analysis) in Patuxent River, MD. The Data Integrity Engineer supports the evaluation of avionics software and data systems associated with navigation and airspace integration capabilities. The incumbent assists in assessing system behavior, data integrity, and software performance to support certification and engineering efforts across Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) platforms.

Working under the guidance of the Data Integrity Lead Engineer, the incumbent contributes to the analysis of software systems and data structures, development of technical documentation, and execution of engineering assessments supporting Performance Based Navigation (PBN) and related CNS/ATM capabilities.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $122k-$165k annually (depending on experience)Work Location: Full-time onsite with some telework (see onsite requirements below)

On-site Requirements: This position is full-time onsite at Patuxent River, MD and may be eligible for reoccurring telework, but will require an onsite work greater than or equal to 85% of the work week”

Essential Functions:

Software and Data Analysis:

  • Supports evaluation of avionics software systems with emphasis on:
    • Data integrity and correctness
    • Logical flow and algorithm behavior
    • Data structures and data handling processes
  • Analyzes system outputs, test data, and engineering artifacts to identify discrepancies, anomalies, or areas requiring further investigation.

Engineering Support to Certification Activities

  • Assists in the evaluation of systems seeking RNP RNAV and related certifications by:
    • Reviewing requirements and design artifacts
    • Supporting test planning and execution
    • Assisting in analysis of verification and validation (V&V) results
    • Contributing to compliance assessments under direction of senior engineers

Technical Documentation

  • Develops and supports technical documentation including:
    • Engineering assessments
    • Test plans and procedures
    • Test reports and analysis summaries
    • Supporting artifacts for certification packages
  • Ensures documentation is clear, traceable, and technically sound.

Systems Engineering Support

  • Participates in systems engineering activities across the lifecycle, including:
    • Requirements review and decomposition
    • Design evaluation support
    • Test and integration activities
  • Supports identification of risks related to software behavior and data handling.

Team and IPT Support

  • Works within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to support engineering efforts across multiple platforms, coordinates with:
    • Senior engineers and technical leads
    • Platform program offices
    • Software developers and integrators
  • May provide informal guidance to junior personnel or assist in small team tasking under supervision.

Requirements

Required:

  • Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures and logical design
  • Proficiency in two or more high-order programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Ada, Java)
  • Educational exposure to assembly language concepts
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and interpret data outputs
  • Technical writing skills sufficient to document engineering analyses and findings
  • Basic understanding of avionics systems or aerospace engineering principles
  • Experience in software development, data analysis, or systems engineering (academic or professional)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a technical team environment

Desired:

  • Experience analyzing software behavior or system-level data flows
  • Familiarity with data and control coupling concepts
  • Experience working in team-based engineering environments (e.g., IPTs)
  • Basic understanding of mission or flight planning systems
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes (e.g., SETR)
  • Exposure to civil or military avionics programs

Education:

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline required.

Security Clearance:

 Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
