Job Description

 Data Management Lead Consultant (CONTRACT ROLE)Priority Deadline: May 1st

About the position

The US DOE Alumni Network is looking for a part-time/fractional consultant to lead our data management, metrics, reporting, and CRM databases.  

Reporting to the DOE Alumni Network Executive Director, Jocelyn Brown-Saracino, the Data Management Lead will spearhead the Network’s data management, metric, and CRM tools. This is a position for a person with database development and management expertise, as well as a familiarity with the DOE community.  

The Data Management Lead will work closely with the Executive Director, other senior staff, working group leads, and Advisory Board to support the DOE Alumni Network’s data intake, analysis, and reporting needs.  They should be a flexible team player, with a keen eye to translating data into organizational impact.  

This position will be remote, and occasional travel to organizational meetings may be required. 

Position Description

  1. Lead CRM development, management, and training
    1. Lead  development, maintenance, and oversight of the DOE Alumni Network’s CRM databases.  
      1. Activities range from continual system development and improvement, to oversight of employee and volunteer access to the system.  
    2. Lead the development and oversight of systems, processes, and tools for gathering data on the alumni community, its engagement in the Network broadly, and its engagement in Network activities and events. 
      1. Includes but is not limited to, managing the Network alumni intake survey, developing survey tools for working groups and other purposes, integrating attendance data from events and more.  
  2. Lead organizational metrics management and reporting
    1. Work with leadership team, working group leads and others to refine metrics for reporting, oversee the regular collection of relevant data, and lead reporting both on a quarterly and as needed basis
  3. Serve on DOE Alumni Network Leadership team
    1. Provide analysis and data insights to inform and shape the overarching direction of the Network
    2. Engage in regular leadership meetings
    3. Work closely with leadership to ensure data and data tools meet the evolving needs of a rapidly growing organization
  4. File and task management oversight
    1. Help develop and maintain a shared file system 
    2. Develop a task management system in Airtable 
  5. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and desired attributes:

  • Must have worked at the Department of Energy (either fellow, contractor, or federal employee) for at least one year, with additional experience preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience building and managing databases
  • Preferred experience with CRM development and management, with non-profit experience preferred
  • Experience developing and reporting on organizational performance metrics
  • Enjoys working on teams and collaborating on the development of new systems and tools to meet organizational and individual needs 
  • Innovative thinker able to develop solutions to the evolving needs of a growing organization 
  • Flexible and willing to address new requests and tasks, as they arise
  • Ideal candidate will already be engaged with the DOE Alumni Network, demonstrating commitment to its efforts and familiarity with its work 
Compensation: We are aiming to secure a contractor for a $7,000 monthly scope of work.
