Rate of pay: $15.65. Final compensation is based on factors such as the skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform all tasks in a manner that reflects the YMCA character traits or Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility.
- Answer the telephone efficiently and in a pleasant manner.
- Communicate with families and staff in a courteous manner and assist them when needed.
- Handle concerns, complaints and questions.
- Answer questions about programs, schedules and special events.
- Guide parents through the sign in/out procedure.
- Handle medication registration and administration.
- Notify staff of any early dismissals.
- Help organize lost and found and camp supplies.
- Attend all staff trainings/meetings prior to and during the entire camp session.
- Work cooperatively with other counselors and help cover groups during staff breaks.
- Communication to families of any behavior & injury write-ups that occurred that day to campers.
- Become First Aid/CPR certified prior to the start of camp.
- Assist in meeting and maintaining YMCA, State and ACA camping standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
- A person at least 18 years of age preferred who demonstrates maturity, good judgement, good organizational skills and has had previous experience.
- Must have general knowledge of office routines and can operate a telephone, computer, calculator, fax and photocopier.
- Able to participate and interact all day in a camp setting, which may include long periods of time standing, moving, sitting and/or enduring outdoor weather.
- Successful completion of a criminal history, child abuse & adult abuse background check as required by the State of Delaware.
