Hourly Range $18-$22. Final compensation is based on factors such as the skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for Deaf or Hard of Hearing participants during daily activities, programs, emergency drills, and events.
- Support effective communication between participants, staff, volunteers, and other program attendees.
- Assist program staff in adapting activities and instructions to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes participation and engagement for all individuals.
- Collaborate with program leadership to address communication needs and accommodations in all aspects of the program, including policies and procedures.
- Always maintain participant confidentiality and professionalism.
- Attend and actively participate in all required training and staff meetings.
- Assist with general program supervision to ensure participants' safety and well-being.
- Monitor participant engagement and communicate any concerns or needs to program leadership.
- Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and emergency action plans.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- 2 years' experience working with individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred.
- Experience working with youth, camps, recreation programs, or community organizations preferred.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- ASL Degree, ASL Certification or K-12 Teaching License with concentration in ASL
