Job Description
Debris Field Supervisor
Reports to: Debris Project ManagerTHIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYPosition Summary
Tidal Basin has an immediate need for an experienced Debris Field Supervisor to support wildfire debris removal monitoring operations in Tok, Alaska following the Mukluk Fire. This position is responsible for direct supervision of debris monitors in the field and ensuring the quality and accuracy of all monitoring activities. A qualified candidate will possess strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to their team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and support field monitors throughout daily operations, visiting assigned monitors multiple times per day to review work, answer questions, and ensure activities are conducted safely and correctly
- QA/QC debris monitor work including load tickets, field logs, and 214 Daily Activity Logs
- Ensure monitors are working in correct areas on authorized private properties with valid Right-of-Entry documentation and approved debris removal sites
- Verify contractors are removing only eligible Mukluk Fire debris and adhering to all program requirements
- Assist monitors with electronic ticket process and troubleshoot issues in the field
- Attend daily safety meetings and reinforce safety topics with field monitors
- Assist with morning sign in procedures and daily muster
- Resolve conflicts that arise in a professional and respectful manner
- Enforce program guidance and information passed down from the operations manager
- Assist operations manager with training and remediation as needed
- Maintain project tools, equipment, and paperwork
- Follow all health and safety guidelines in performance of work activities
- Complete all required training
Skills and Competencies
The candidate should possess the following:
- Proven ability to supervise and lead a field team effectively and positively
- Strong understanding of FEMA Public Assistance debris removal programs and PPDR requirements
- Ability to answer monitor questions on eligibility and debris monitoring best practices
- Positive, professional, and courteous approach with residents, contractors, and state officials
- Basic proficiency with Windows based laptop and tablet including troubleshooting common issues
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to follow and enforce safety protocols and program requirements
- Ability to communicate verbally in English and write legibly
- Ability to pass a drug screen, motor vehicle, and criminal background check
- Valid state driver's license
- Cell phone with vehicle charger
- Ability to drive and work in remote Alaska outdoor conditions including variable weather, smoke, dust, and uneven terrain
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior debris monitoring experience required
- Prior debris field supervisor experience strongly preferred
- Able to work as early as 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week during the response period
- Occasional hours of 12 to 14 hours per day during peak operations
- Able to work up to 100 hours per week as needed including weekends
