Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our growing team of healthcare professionals. In this role, you will play an important part in delivering high-quality patient care while supporting our dentists and clinical team.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with patients, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in creating a comfortable and positive experience for every patient.
As a Dental Assistant, you will support dental procedures by preparing treatment areas, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring patients receive attentive and professional care throughout their visit.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and escort them to the appropriate treatment room
- Take and update patient dental, medical, and medication histories
- Prepare treatment rooms, trays, instruments, and materials for procedures
- Assist the dentist during procedures by handling instruments and supplies
- Take, expose, and mount high-quality dental radiographs
- Perform patient charting as directed by the dentist
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Maintain proper inventory levels of dental supplies and materials
- Ensure treatment rooms remain organized, clean, and ready for patients

Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Dental Assistant Certification in the State of Louisiana (EDDA preferred) or Associate Degree from an accredited dental assisting program
- X-Ray Certification required
Experience
- Experience in a general dental practice preferred
Working Environment
This position is based in a multi-site urban medical office environment serving an inner-city community. Team members should be comfortable working in a dynamic and active healthcare setting.
Physical requirements include:
- Standing, sitting, bending, and stooping for extended periods
- Moving throughout the workday between treatment areas
- Operating standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, and fax machines
- Demonstrating strong time management, organization, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
- Maintaining professionalism, personal integrity, and strong teamwork with staff and providers
Compensation
Salary commensurate with education and experience
