- Greet and prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures.
- Review and update patient medical and dental histories.
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all instruments and materials are readily available.
- Assist the dentist during examinations, restorative procedures, oral surgeries, and other dental treatments.
- Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with state regulations.
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment following infection control protocols.
- Perform chairside duties, including suctioning, instrument transfer, and patient comfort measures.
- Provide patients with post-treatment instructions and oral hygiene education.
- Take dental impressions, fabricate temporary restorations, and perform expanded duties as permitted by state regulations.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering dental supplies.
- Schedule appointments and support front-office operations as needed.
- Adhere to OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and infection prevention guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program preferred.
- Current Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by state regulations.
- Current Radiation Safety (X-Ray) certification required (if applicable).
- Current CPR/BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Minimum of one (1) year of Dental Assistant experience preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, procedures, and infection control practices.
- Experience with dental practice management software and electronic health records preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Proof of MMR and Varicella vaccinations or titers.
- Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 months.
- Current Annual Health Clearance.
- Reliable source of transportation.
