Schedule Details/Additional Information:

Rotating based on need during office hours. Tues, Thurs, and Fri's are the days we most commonly need staffing on. Our office hours are Mon- 830a-6, Tues- 730-4 or 830a-5. Wed- 830a-6, Thurs 830a-4, Fri- 830a-4. We do rotate monthly to work an hour later on Thurs and Fri to help cover sedation dental patients.

Job Description Summary:

  • Under supervision of the Manager, the Dental Assistant provides clinical support for dentists in the General Practice Residency Program. Responsibilities include: chairside assisting, radiographic film taking and processing, room set-up and breakdown and room stocking and maintenance. In addition, other support duties such as coronal polishing and application of pit and fissure sealants are also performed, as requested by the dentists.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare,maintain,sterilize,andstocktreatmentrooms,instruments,andsupplies.
  • TakeandprocessdentalX-rays.
  • Assistwithlabduties,includingcreatingandhandlingdentalmodels.
  • Supportoperatingroomproceduresasadentalscrubnursewhenneeded.
  • Performexpandeddutiessuchascoronalpolishingandapplyingdentalsealants.
  • Completequality,safety,compliance,andcontinuingeducationrequirements.
  • Provideadditionalclinicalandoperationalsupportasneeded.
  • Performotherdutiesasassigned.

About this Location:

As a hospital-based dental service, our team of dentists, oral surgeons, residents, clinical staff and support are exceptionally well trained and equipped to meet the needs of patients with medical complexity, special needs, or who may require sedation or anesthesia for dental treatment. We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years dental assistant.
  • Good communication skills. Good customer service skills.
  • Current CPR certification. (will provide upon hire)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Current CPR certification. (will provide upon hire)
  • Completion of Coronal Polishing/Application of Pit & Fissure Sealant Course Approved by the Illinois State Dental Society.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
