Medical Edge Recruitment has an immediate opening for a Dental Hygienist for a Direct Hire opportunity in Klawock, AK.PAY RANGE:$54.60 - $76.93 per hour$25K Sign-On Bonus and $10K Relocation for qualified hire Plus $20K annual geographic differential on top of base payPOSITION SUMMARY: Provide optimum age-specific prevention and curative periodontal and dental care by performing hygiene services for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: This is a non-profit health consortium serving the health interests of residents of Southeast Alaska. The organization prioritizes employee development, professional advancement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package including retirement, paid time off, paid parental leave, health, dental, vision, life insurance, and short/long-term disability.KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:• Provides age-specific patient education in prevention and control of oral disease, emphasizing oral hygiene, home care, and nutrition• Performs oral tissue examination, periodontal therapy, coronal polishing, fluoride application, periodontal pocket measurements, and dental x-rays• Records vital signs including pulse, blood pressure, and temperature• Manages patient schedules• Coordinates dental prevention activities such as health fairs, sealant clinics, and Head Start clinics• Maintains sterilization and inventory of hygienist supplies and instruments• Performs other duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:• None requiredEDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND LICENSES REQUIRED:• Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program• Bachelor’s Degree preferred• Must pass National Board Examination for Dental Hygienists• Active Dental Hygiene License in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska license preferred)• BLS required within 45 days of hire and maintained thereafter• High school diploma or GED required• Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annuallyKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:• Knowledge of infection control techniques• Understanding of dental and periodontal disease and treatment therapies• Proper use of dental instruments• Strong clinical hygiene skills• Effective oral and written communication skills• Accurate clinical judgment• Ability to maintain prolonged positioning over patients and strong manual dexterityREQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association• Clinical Competency Assessment• Dental Hygienist – Alaska State Board Licensure• High Risk Competency
