Position Summary:

A talented, compassionate dentist to ensure access to quality dental services to the patient population of the community health center. These services encompass the areas of pedodontics, periodontics, removeable and fixed prosthodontics, endodontics, oral medicine, and operative dentistry.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of dentistry
  • Two (2) years' experience in ambulatory care or community health
  • Current unrestricted Pennsylvania license and DEA Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of the principles of community health care and services to special populations
  • Cultural competence required
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Ability to travel between worksites as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including friendliness, empathy, patience, kindness, politeness, and helpfulness
  • Strong leadership and communication skills required
  • Skilled in working with both children and adults
  • Enjoys working in a busy, high-energy general dentistry practice
  • Extensive knowledge of current dental health care needs and issues of children, adolescents, and adults
  • Ability to collect adequate client data, conduct basic general dentistry, interpret oral findings, and manage or refer patients as conditions or protocol dictate

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Provide dental care to patients in an FQHC ambulatory-care environment in an urban setting
  • Coordinates and provides dental care services to target populations
  • Maintains confidentiality of clinical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Works within all state/federal laws and regulations and collaborating dental agreements
  • Maintains positive relationships with managed care agencies, commercial providers, public and private funders and community organizations
  • Participates in quality improvement, regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Maintains a high productivity level based on BPHC standards with respect to the total number of patients to which professional services are rendered
  • Performs other tasks as directed

Physical demands:

  • Travel is required between sites(s) by personal automobile or public transportation,
  • reimbursed in accordance with ChesPenn Health Services reimbursement policy
  • Frequent and prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking may be required
  • Moderate physical effort with carrying forms, supplies and equipment
  • Climbing stairs may be required
  • Stooping and stretching may be required

Work environment:

  • The primary work environment is a busy multi-cultural ambulatory care setting. Exposure to infectious disease and bloodborne pathogens is possible
